As we are now in 2010 - and a new decade - I thought for a bit of fun I would come up with some predictions for the year ahead. Each one has been posted under its relevant section heading. Feel free to add you own predictions in the comments box at the bottom of the page:
The Issue/politics
- India will challenge China's dominance as the world's leading economic power
- Sarah Palin will announce her intention to run for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2012. With only two years to go, she will see now as the time to start putting forward her case to lead the party
- The UK will come out of recession by April
- The Conservatives will win big at the election after Gordon Brown loses his cool during live TV debates. Nick Clegg will come across well during the debates, leaving many members of the public believing this is a man who could one day be Prime Minister
- The live election debates will be the most watched TV shows of the year, easily surpassing the X Factor in terms of viewing figures
- Barack Obama's popularity in the US will continue to fall, but he will experience a significant recovery in 2011
- Stem cell treatments wil continue to generate positive results
