Rabbit Proof Fence is our film of the decade - see the great movies it beat to the number 1 spot.

30. Love & Basketball

This overlooked little film confidently mixed the titular love and basketball as well as it could possibly be done. The result was a sweet and smart romantic comedy which is definitely worth a look.

29. Donnie Darko

The film that made Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal Hollywood stars, Donnie Darko’s strange mix of time travel, giant bunny rabbits, sleep-walking and classic 80’s tunes charmed those fortunate few who caught its original release back in 2001. Since then, word of mouth gave it a cult following and it was even re-released with an unnecessary Director’s Cut. Donnie Darko is a unique teen-movie with enough strange twists and turns to almost completely lose you by the final scene. A must-see cult classic.

28. Saw

Now regarded by many as a horror cult classic, Saw is one concept movie which really caught on to say the least. Since its release only 5 years ago, we have sat through no less than five sequels and another is already on the way for next year. Saw mixes psychological horror with violent gore and a detective man-hunt cleverly, its concept so open that it doesn’t look like the franchise will ever end.

27. Zodiac

Unjustly overlooked by the Academy, Zodiac may very well be the best film of 2007 and one of the finest thrillers to date. The characters’ unhealthy obsession with the Zodiac case shows fascinating character developments throughout the film. Robert Downey Jr, Mark Ruffalo and Jake Gyllenhaal are all on top of their game and the film itself is stylish and hypnotizing. A true masterpiece courtesy of Fight Club director David Fincher.

26. 28 Days Later

Zombie movies were given a much-needed update in this gritty British film, directed by Danny Boyle, famous for its post-apocalyptic depiction of a nearly deserted London. This time, instead of slow-paced Thriller-like zombies we get hyper brain junkies, hungry like rabid-dogs. Scary.
