British billionaire Sir Richard Branson has unveiled the much-talked about Virgin Galactic spaceship, SpaceShipTwo, at an event held at the Mojave Air and Spaceport in California.
The project - which has been in development since 2007 - was revealed to 300 lucky people who have already laid down deposits for flights on Branson's spaceship - one that will be able to accommodate a total of six passengers and two astronauts per flight into space.
At the unveiling, Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Galactic said: "This is truly a momentous day. The team has created not only a world first but also a work of art. The unveil of SS2 takes the Virgin Galactic vision to the next level and continues to provide tangible evidence that this ambitious project is not only moving rapidly, but also making tremendous progress towards our goal of safe commercial operation."
According to CNN.com, the inaugural flight should take place in 2011, with the lucky passengers having to shell out over $200,000 each (around £122,000) for a seat on the first flight and those that follow it.

To be honest, it's all a bit amazing that this project is finally a reality - not that we ever doubted the fruition of a project backed by a great man such as Richard Branson. The guy is a legend!
