British marque Mini has revealed stunning images of the Beachcomber Concept - an SUV that is based on the legendary Mini Moke beach buggy.
Similar to the Moke - a buggy that proved incredibly popular in Australia and the USA - the Beachcomber comes without doors and a roof, though Mini claims it "comes with a strong and stable body structure incorporating clearly defined load paths and deformation units serving to convey and consistently absorb impact energy in the event of a collision." Reinforced A-pillars and an equally strong D-pillar bar also help to ensure that the Beachcomber can withstand the most demanding of conditions or collisions.
And the good news is that Mini plans to introduce this SUV to the car market at some point during 2010, with the production version expected to be called the Countryman. Shame, we quite like the Beachcomber moniker.
The Beachcomber is due to make its first appearance at the North American International Show in January. Ahead of its unveiling, check out the images below.
